LBM Design was started as Poandl Brothers Woodworking in
1985 by brothers Bill and Ed Poandl. Bill received a
BFA in Woodworking and Furniture Design from the Rochester
Institute of Technology School for American Crafts. Poandl
Brothers’ work in the 1980s included completing most phases
of residential construction, from framing of structures to
the final trim work. During the 1990s, the company’s focus
shifted to building products for the commercial sector,
where we provided completed products to other companies. A
major area of expertise developed in marine woodworking and
outfitting of boats for manufacturers, including cabinetry,
louvered doors, pulpits, swim platforms and the like.
With the explosive growth in residential building in New
Jersey’s Monmouth and Ocean county areas, we then moved
towards focusing our business on building fine custom
furniture, cabinets and millwork directly for contractors
and homeowners.
In 1999, ownership of the company passed solely to Bill
Poandl, and LBM Design became the new name. Bill has
continually invested in the most modern machinery and shop
equipment. This strategy has resulted in the most efficient
process of getting initial design ideas to finished product,
while maintaining the highest quality standards. |
